From the Forum Ethos post by Admin...

Remember this is not a replacement for this, that and the other forum; it is purely a vehicle to enable like minded individuals to communicate effectively and at the same time, help to promote Stoney and Friends charity events and subsequent support to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Yes we have rules; particularly registering with your full name. We feel that this will enable better forum-based relationships and allow the Stoney and Friends committee to identify those who are keen to support our charity events. Moreover, it will hopefully deter those individuals who want to abuse the facility and wish to breed a corrosive mentality, which negates the reason why the forum was set up in the first place.

To that end, the moderators and administrators have been selected very carefully and they will have no hesitation in banning members and deleting accounts of those that do not enter into the spirit of Stoney and Friends and the forum ethos.

Here here.

We could also sell tickets to watch nick h and tenchtamer go at it in the Percy one night? Should be a good battle!

Would raise plenty for Macmillan!

Fellas,

Thanks for the constructive discussion. It has prompted an explanation within the Forum Ethos thread.

i fear if it's like this thread it would be a bit one sided.................if you read through my posts i don't really say anything contentious but mr. h seems to want to bite my head off at every turn. last thing i want is a fight.

So 100 posts to place an ad don't see a problem with that.

If a buyer PM's a seller but the buyer doesn't have the required posts then surely it's the sellers decision if they want want to proceed with a sale or not.

It would be nice to think use of the For Sale section was a by-product of being a member of the forum rather than the sole goal of the member.

Agree with the fact it takes 100 posts to create a "For Sale" ad. Personally - I would go one further and make it a requirement to have been an active member for 3 months as well as 100 posts.

Sounds like a good idea to me. I'm not too sure about the triathlon thing though unless I can do it on the WII console-I'm a bit of a porker!

thats me out too then Laughing

It gets rid of people signing up to just use the site to buy and sell without contributing content. Otherwise people will sign up and spam "spec me a kettle" threads just to increase their post count so they can access the sales part of the forum. It fills the forum up with useless crud rather than the beacon of light of information and discussion it should be sunny

Was just a thought....

The buying and selling issue has generated more responses than any other post i believe. If it is so emotive, surely the answer is a fee (as previously suggested) that goes to Macmillan. This stops pointless posts just to get post numbers up and benefits the cause. If Macmillan don't benefit from sales on here, is it worth the Admin hassle of even having a for sale board.

My vote would be fee to post or totally remove "for sale board".

support macmillan a lot anyway so no fee, would get complicated imo.
who would monitor it ??
if you want to give to Stoney from a sale sent him a cheque.
or when you see him at a event.

sorry not been around to reply

firstly, sorry Ashley (Tenchtamer) my comments were not intended to be a personal atttack/affront

anyway, it seems that most folk think that a financial contribution for 'sales' would be a good idea - thanks guys

lets see what Allan and the committee come up with?

As this is a charity web site, how about 10% of sale price donation?
