surface lure fishing,at night

Post by norwich lad on Tue Aug 14, 2012 9:15 pm

Hello all, something to start the predator section off, have you been enjoying the night time lure fishing with top water lures?

I went on a local broad last friday night and had 4 fish and had plenty of strikes. all to a jointed jitterbug. my friend steve had 5 fish on crazy crawler's. biggest fish about 8lb. but great stuff at night time.

L.B. alot of piker's do little lures in early month's i fish a few times on topwater's at night, (only been once, this season) off again next week.

I f you ever do it at night with surface popper's/walking type lures. the strikes from fish are really good and when the fish strike as lifting the lure out to recast (often the case) you jump abit. keep you on edge expecting a take.

I have tried lures with the betalights attached (glued) to them to see if they got a reaction, but nothing so far

Ive tried it a few times on my local broad , had quite a few fish but so far only small ones, it is really exciting though. Ive found prop lures fished at the slowest speed to work them effectively gave me the best strike/ fish boated ratio.

Not tried it for pike but sounds a good idea but have caught big bass at night. Using a carp rod lobbing out a controller with a 6' trace and rubber eel I caught plenty, but by far the best lure was a black eel, most other colours not much good in comparison. Worth a thought for pike?
