personal issues on forums?

Post by Guest on Fri Jun 21, 2013 11:38 am

firstly, let me make very clear this is not aimed at anybody!

BUT

why do some people bring their marriage/relationship problems onto forums?

I ask in all honesty

honestly I cringe at such posts - to me I ask where is your self respect when telling the world (anyone can view most forums) about issues in your personal life?

its not just on fishing forums but just about anywhere - as a Range Rover owner I use certain specialist forums and now we are seeing the same sort of personal info from some members?

on some forums (cars) I've seen posts by bi-polar people discussing suicide - might seem a good idea in desperation but some reply 'shut the xxxx up and top yourself or go away attention seeker - this type of post can stay up for hours until a mod removes it

one thing I notice in every case I've seen its MEN not women posting but maybe I don't go to 'girly' sites?

do posters want reassurance? - because sure as hell none of us can even begin to comment without knowing the sordid details from BOTH sides

the same applies to bereavement posts - what the hell can anyone say but - sorry for your loss?

given that i'm coming up to 60 yrs old this year am I missing something? - is it the new social/media way that you express your innermost feelings for the world to see and discuss?

pmsl

did you ever see Top Gear when Jeremy Clarkson did the Indian driving test?

basically - start car - drive for 100m and stop - PASSED!!!!

I've been to India - and believe me that what you see on TV is sedate - they are truly mad

you see supercars (Ferrari/Porsche/Lambo's etc with huge scratches/fender benders etc)

as for driving on two wheels - that's suicide!

i'd sooner 'drive' one of the 'sacred cows' as they are immune - drivers cause pile up's stopping for these beasts to have a dump in the middle of a 'motorway'!

anyone who goes on a fishing forum with a personal problem, deserves all he gets.

Fishing forums are for fishing, not sob stories.

Alex - the 'Nigella' thing seemed a bit nasty? - husband got a police caution - and in my opinion rightly so - she has also moved out of the marital home

nick,

You have not got the hang of this internet lark, you can do and say whatever you wan't on any forum, regardless of it being Fishing, MotorCar's or Neddlework and when a Moderator get's fed up with it, then you get upset with the Moderator !!

maybe a pm/email might be better?

as a mod on the old Semtex site you certainly ruffled a few feathers

No you cannot, if it does not suit the "mod" it will be deleted, and they will ban you.

As for the "mod" getting fed up, why do the job, just let it go.

Its a power thing.

Sad.

As for the cemex/anglers site its faded away, and will continue to do so, due to "fed up agenda"

Its all on facebook and twitter now.

At least on here, there are no "power mods" Very Happy

"Internet feather ruffler" GOSH, affraid

was hoping he was a 'fluffer'!!!!!

the problem was and still is with Semtex that there is no coherent standard of moderation - I think the last thread on 'those baits' showed that?

I got banned from Semtex by Mick Barnes when I took Prestige Carp porters to task about being made in China yet advertised as made in the UK - I contacted Trading Standards about said issue and I got a load of bile - Cash followed by Alan Silver of Prestige

the end result is that prestige were made to change their adverts after Trading standards intervened - and yes I have a full record of what happened including 'case number' - though Prestige deny that my complaint made them change their ads from 'made in England' to 'designed in England'

and the thread was 'edited' to remove all my accusations despite the Trading Standards reference//case number

so a Semtex' mod in the shape on Mick Barnes banned me for this 'expose'?

then Barnes got 'sacked' but my ban remained in place? - not that in truth i'd ever post again on 'there' if it was the last fishing forum on earth

at least on 'here' things seem to be civilised - in fact to avoid embarrassing problems before I registered on here I told Stoney about my 'history' and it was not a problem

anyway - that's things from my perspective - take it as you find it!

Hi, Nick

Semtex is a general-purpose plastic explosive containing RDX and PETN. It is used in commercial blasting, demolition, and in certain military applications.

and IRA.

"SEMTEX"  (Freudian slip)?

Alex - pmsl!

I certainly never coined the term 'Semtex' but its always been used by friends who use the site

and I prefer C4 over Semtex any day

does Semtex still have the 'trace elements' (detection taggant)?

There you go lads- as I said, you can say what you like on the internet.

Cemex had rules, some people don't like rules and the only place they can get away with it is on Internet sites !!

Sad

but Bob you would surely admit that the 'standard' of moderation in 'the other place' varies quite a lot?

in the 'old days' the current thread on 'Area 52' would have soon been pulled? - and quite rightly so in my opinion - why does 'Jazzhands' get away with virtual murder?

this is the same guy who demanded his CEMEX account was deleted - never to return - yet he comes back under another name - double standard springs to mind

nick

I rarely go on the site now, like a few other Old Mods.

It has nothing to do with Cemex and is as far removed from it, as I am likely too appear on Top Gear !!

So to compare it to the old Cemex is pointless.

It is not Moderated within the frame work of the Old Cemex Rules and is nothing like the old site.

I was banned from a motorcycle forum because after my cancer op I lost 50lbs and suggested to the moderator that he would go faster if he wasn't so fat. Some people just don't have a sense of humour. I tried to tell him to "lighten up" but I couldn't post
