Through action rod required

Post by Monster Crab on Mon Dec 24, 2012 7:58 am

I'm after three 12' 2 lb test curve through action rods, preferably with cork handles. Not looking for new custom made either. Ideally priced about £100 a rod. Nearest I've found so far is Grey's Prodigy VX twin tip, but don't want the 2nd tip and £140ish each.
Suggestions welcome.

Seems no one wants a carp rod under 2.5-2.75 tc. Already have 3 12' 2.75 NG's and 5 12' 3.5 NG's. Going to be fishing a lake where 50 yards is a long chuck. 20+ years ago I had some 2 lb North Westerns Kevlars, till I drove over them, doh!! Guess I'm getting lucky on E*ay or custom build.

A mate of mine uses the 1 3/4lb tc wychwood rogues for margin stuff. He's had fish to just over 30lb on them using 8lb mono hooklinks and size 12 super specialist hooks so they might be soft enough for whet you need?

yes its now seen as unnecessary to have 3.5 rods, 35lb braid, 4 oz leads and massive reels for NORMAL CARPING, as it takes the fun out it.

the in word is DOWNSIZING. Very Happy

Trouble is i don't do much normal carping, I fish day ticket waters. (Got to look the part or you won't catch anything Laughing)

Have looked at barbel rods, including the 1 3/4lb tc wychwood rogues. Not handled one but they look well finished and good value. Just a shame they have to have "BARBEL" written on them. Too old to be a tackle tart, but prefer plain as possible rods. Reel wise, I intend to use my set of Mitchell 300s on them and fish for churners Very Happy .Don't think my Basia's will fit the reel seat!!!

just put a sticky of some sort over that word, Laughing

got my mitchell 300 on my Richard Walker mk4 avon, looks like a toy next to my carp rods and reels. Shocked

makes you wonder how Richard Walker managed to play and land his 44lb carp record.

weight of m300 11oz
daiwa windcast 22oz
